Test conditions and notes6
- 1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated load and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
- 2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1μF & 47μF parallel capacitor.
- 3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
- 4. The power supply is considered a component which will be installed into a final equipment. All the EMC tests are been executed by mounting the unit on a 360mm*360mm metal plate with 1mm of thickness. The final equipment must be re-confirmed that it still meets EMC directives. For guidance on how to perform these EMC tests, please refer to “EMI testing of component power supplies.” (as available on https://www.meanwell.com//Upload/PDF/EMI_statement_en.pdf )
- 5. Derating may be needed under low input voltages. Please check the derating curve for more details.
- 6. The ambient temperature derating of 3.5℃/1000m with fanless models and of 5℃/1000m with fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m(6500ft).

FAQ
Can I use the HRP-100-5 for 5V industrial control electronics?
Yes, if the load needs a constant 5V DC supply and does not exceed 17A or 85W. It is intended for higher-current 5V equipment rather than devices that require a higher DC voltage.
Is the HRP-100-5 suitable for embedded computing or logic hardware that runs on 5V?
It can be used where a regulated 5V DC rail is required, provided the total load stays within 17A and 85W. That makes it appropriate for embedded hardware, controller assemblies, or digital electronics that are designed for 5V input.
Can this model support a 5V automation or HMI subsystem with relatively high current demand?
Yes. Compared with low-current 5V supplies, this unit delivers up to 17A at 5V, so it fits 5V subsystems with higher current requirements while remaining within 85W total output.
Would the HRP-100-5 work for a bench or fixture power source for 5V devices?
It can, as long as the equipment is designed for constant 5V input and stays inside the 17A, 85W rating. Its wide 85-264VAC input range is useful where the fixture may be powered from different AC mains conditions.
How does the HRP-100-5 differ from the other HRP-100 output versions?
The HRP-100 family spans 3.3V at 20A and 66W, 5V at 17A and 85W, 7.5V at 13.5A and 101.3W, 12V at 8.5A and 102W, 15V at 7A and 105W, 24V at 4.5A and 108W, 36V at 2.9A and 104.4W, and 48V at 2.2A and 105.6W. The HRP-100-5 is the 5V member with 17A output current.
Is the HRP-100-5 appropriate for indoor industrial environments with temperature swings?
Its operating temperature range is -40°C to +60°C, so it is specified for a broad range of ambient temperatures. An IP rating is not provided in the listed specs, so outdoor or wet-location use cannot be verified from the available data.
