Over 15 years experience of providing support of MEAN WELL Power Supplies
Description
Description
The DDR-30G is a 30W DIN Rail type DC-DC converter with a 35mm (2SU) profile, designed for industrial control cabinets and distributed power systems. A 4:1 wide input voltage range of 9~36Vdc supports a broad range of DC supply sources, while reinforced 4KVdc I/O isolation ensures noise-free power conversion. Cooled entirely by free air convection with no minimum load requirement, it operates reliably from -40~+85°C.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the DDR-30G-5 to power a 5V microcontroller or single-board computer from a 24V DC bus?
Yes. The DDR-30G-5 accepts 9-36V DC input and outputs 5V at up to 6A (30W), so a 24V bus is well within range. It provides enough current for Raspberry Pi-class SBCs, Arduino-based controllers, or custom microcontroller boards with attached peripherals in DIN rail-mounted automation panels.
Is the DDR-30G-5 suitable for providing isolated 5V power to USB-powered devices in an industrial cabinet?
Yes. The 4KVdc I/O isolation protects 5V USB devices from noise and transients on the DC bus. At 6A output, the DDR-30G-5 can supply multiple USB peripherals such as barcode scanners, touchscreens, or HID interfaces as long as total draw stays under 30W.
Can the DDR-30G-5 power 5V logic circuits in a vehicle or mobile equipment application?
Yes. The 9-36V input range covers typical 12V and 24V vehicle electrical systems, including voltage sags during cranking. The DDR-30G-5 delivers a stable 5V at up to 6A for onboard data loggers, display screens, or communication interfaces in trucks, forklifts, or marine vessels.
Does the DDR-30G-5 require active cooling or ventilation?
No. The DDR-30G-5 uses a fanless convection-cooled design. At only 30W total output and a compact 90.0 x 54.5 x 35.0 mm enclosure, heat dissipation is modest. It is rated from -40°C to +85°C and can be installed in sealed or poorly ventilated cabinets without supplemental airflow.
Can I use the DDR-30G-5 to power LED indicator panels or small display modules from a 12V solar battery?
Yes. A 12V solar battery (typical range 10-14.4V) is within the 9-36V input window. The DDR-30G-5 provides 5V at up to 6A, which is sufficient for small LED matrix panels, OLED displays, or status indicator arrays in solar-powered kiosks or remote monitoring stations.
