Test conditions and notes4
- 1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at normal input(12V/24V/48V) , rated load and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
- 2. Derating may be needed over high ambient temperature. Please check the derating curve for more details.
- 3. The ambient temperature derating of 3.5℃/1000m with fanless models and of 5℃/1000m with fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m(6500ft).
- 4. The power supply is considered as an independent unit, but the final equipment still need to re-confirm that the whole system complies with the EMC directives. For guidance on how to perform these EMC tests, please refer to “EMI testing of component power supplies.” (as available on https://www.meanwell.com//Upload/PDF/EMI_statement_en.pdf )

FAQ
Can I use the DRDN40-48 in a 48V industrial automation panel that needs redundant power?
Yes. The DRDN40-48 is a 48V redundancy module rated for 40A continuous (60A peak for 5 seconds) and supports both 1+1 and N+1 redundancy, which fits automation panels built around redundant 48V DC power. Its DIN rail format also makes it appropriate for structured control cabinet layouts.
Is the DRDN40-48 suitable for 48V control cabinets that need monitored power status?
It is suitable where the cabinet uses a 48V DC bus and requires redundancy with status monitoring. The relay contacts for monitoring power status help integrate the module into supervised industrial control systems. With 40A output capacity, it supports higher-current 48V cabinet power designs.
Can this model be used in building management enclosures that run on 48V DC?
Yes, when the building management enclosure is designed around 48V DC and needs redundant supply architecture. The DRDN40-48 supports 1+1 and N+1 redundancy and is built for DIN rail installation, which aligns with enclosure-based control systems. Each of its two inputs accepts 36-60Vdc, and the output carries up to 40A continuous.
Is the DRDN40-48 a practical choice for high-power 48V DIN rail systems?
Yes. This model is rated for 40A continuous at 48V nominal (36-60Vdc input range), so it fits higher-power 48V DIN rail systems that need redundancy rather than a single feed path. The 125.2 × 100.0 × 55.0 mm housing keeps that capacity in a cabinet-oriented format.
What are the differences between the DRDN40-48 and the other DRDN40 models?
The DRDN40-12 is for 12V systems (9-14Vdc input range), the DRDN40-24 for 24V systems (19-29Vdc), and the DRDN40-48 for 48V systems (36-60Vdc). All three share the 40A current rating, while the input voltage range and alarm thresholds differ by version. Selection should follow the required DC bus voltage in the target system.
Should the DRDN40-48 be used inside a control enclosure?
Yes, that is the more appropriate use case based on the DIN rail form factor and redundancy role. The operating temperature range of -40°C to +80°C supports demanding cabinet conditions, but the product is best matched to enclosed control or electrical cabinets rather than exposed mounting. Its 0.5 kg weight also supports standard panel integration.
