Overview
RPS-120-15-C is the 15V output model of this series: typical efficiency 89%.
RPS-120 is a 120W highly reliable green PCB type medical power supply with a high power density on a 4" by 2" footprint. It accepts 80~264VAC input and offers various models with the output voltages between 12V and 48V. The working efficiency is up to 91% and the extremely low no load power consumption is down below 0.3W. RPS-120 is able to be used for both ClassⅠ(with FG) or ClassⅡ(no FG) system design. The extremely low leakage current is less than 190μA. Test conditions and notes7
- 1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated load and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
- 2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1μf & 47μf parallel capacitor.
- 3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
- 4. Derating may be needed under low input voltages. Please check the derating curve for more details.
- 5. Touch current was measured from primary input to DC output.
- 6. The ambient temperature derating of 3.5℃/1000m with fanless models and of 5℃/1000m with fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m(6500ft).
- 7. The power supply is considered a component which will be installed into a final equipment. All the EMC tests are been executed by mounting the unit on a 360mm*360mm metal plate with 1mm of thickness. The final equipment must be re-confirmed that it still meets EMC directives. For guidance on how to perform these EMC tests, please refer to “EMI testing of component power supplies.” (as available on https://www.meanwell.com//Upload/PDF/EMI_statement_en.pdf )

FAQ
Can I use the RPS-120-15-C in a medical cart or compact medical device that needs 15V DC?
Yes, if the load needs constant 15V DC and stays within 5.6A (84W) by convection, or 8A (120W) with a 10CFM fan. This model is medical safety approved and keeps those electrical limits in a compact-format power supply.
Is the RPS-120-15-C a fit for 15V lab instruments or test equipment?
It can be used for laboratory or test equipment that requires a constant 15V output and does not exceed 5.6A by convection or 8A with a 10CFM fan. The broad 80-264VAC input range also makes it practical for equipment used in different AC input environments.
Can this model power 15V embedded computers, scanners, or automation modules?
Yes, provided the connected electronics are designed for a constant 15V supply and the total draw remains at or below 84W by convection, or 120W with a 10CFM fan. Its medical approval and extremely low leakage current can matter where sensitive electronic equipment is involved.
Is the RPS-120-15-C suitable for harsh indoor environments or outdoor exposure?
It is suited to protected indoor use or installation inside a suitable enclosure. The specified operating temperature range is -30°C to +70°C (with output derating per the derating curve), but no IP rating is provided, so it should not be treated as an exposed outdoor power supply.
What is the difference between the RPS-120-15-C and other RPS-120 output options?
The RPS-120 outputs are 12V (7A convection / 10A with a 10CFM fan), 15V (5.6A / 8A), 24V (3.5A / 5A), 27V (3.15A / 4.5A) and 48V (1.75A / 2.5A), rated 84W by convection and 120W with the fan (85W / 121.5W for 27V). The RPS-120-15-C is the enclosed 15V model, and compared with the PCB-type RPS-120-15 it has the same electrical rating but different physical specs: 103.4 × 62.0 × 40.0 mm and 0.24 kg versus 101.6 × 50.8 × 29.0 mm and 0.15 kg.
