As 5G telecommunications continue to advance, lighting products are evolving beyond traditional illumination. Modern luminaires are expected to integrate with intelligent control systems—be it wired or wireless—making smart lighting a growing trend across the industry. The ultimate vision is to connect all lighting fixtures and smart home devices into a unified network, controllable through a mobile app for seamless energy management and automation.

Back in 2019, MEAN WELL introduced the LCM-40/60BLE series, featuring LED drivers with CASAMBI Bluetooth Mesh modules. Now, we're expanding the lineup with two new module options: Tuya from China and Silvair from Poland. These new additions form the LCM-IoT series, supporting full indoor and commercial lighting applications. Users can easily set up grouping, scenes, and timer schedules via compatible mobile apps. The system also supports third-party Bluetooth Mesh devices like wall switches and light sensors, giving users the freedom to create custom intelligent lighting environments.

The series includes LCM-25/40/60 IoT models, featuring constant current output with adjustable current settings via DIP switches. Additionally, the LCM-25/40/60BLE models support Push dimming, allowing traditional push-button operation while unlocking advanced Bluetooth control for a hybrid smart/traditional solution.
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mesh networking brings a new level of scalability and functionality to lighting control. Unlike older point-to-point Bluetooth systems, mesh networks allow multiple devices to communicate simultaneously, extending signal range and eliminating connectivity limitations. Moreover, Bluetooth Mesh enables indoor positioning and asset tracking by detecting distances between luminaires and mobile devices—paving the way for the next generation of smart lighting.
