Over 15 years experience of providing support of MEAN WELL Power Supplies
Description
Description
The DDR-30L is a 30W DIN Rail type DC-DC converter with a 35mm (2SU) profile, suited for systems powered from 24V or 48V DC buses. A 4:1 wide input voltage range of 18~75Vdc covers nominal 24V and 48V supplies, and reinforced 4KVdc I/O isolation ensures clean, noise-resistant power conversion. Cooled by free air convection with no minimum load requirement, it operates across a -40~+85°C working range.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the DDR-30L-12 to power 12V sensors and relays in a DIN rail automation panel?
Yes. The DDR-30L-12 outputs 12V at up to 2.5A (30W), which is sufficient for small sensor arrays, relay modules, and indicator lights commonly found in industrial control panels. Its DIN rail mount and ultra slim 35mm width make it easy to fit into standard enclosures alongside PLCs and terminal blocks.
Is the DDR-30L-12 suitable for converting a 48V DC bus to 12V for embedded computing boards?
Yes. With its 18-75V DC input range, it accepts 48V nominal bus voltages commonly found in telecom and data center environments. It provides a stable 12V output at up to 2.5A with 4KVdc I/O isolation, protecting sensitive embedded boards from ground loops and transients on the main bus.
Can the DDR-30L-12 power 12V LED indicator panels in a railway or transportation control cabinet?
Yes. The wide 18-75V DC input range accommodates the variable battery voltages found in railway and transportation systems (typically 24V, 48V, or 72V nominal). Its -40°C to +85°C operating range and fanless design make it reliable in vibration-prone, maintenance-restricted environments.
Will the DDR-30L-12 operate reliably in an unheated outdoor electrical enclosure?
The DDR-30L-12 is rated for -40°C to +85°C, so it handles extreme cold and heat inside sealed enclosures without derating concerns at typical ambient temperatures. Its fanless convection-cooled design means no moving parts to fail from dust or moisture. However, it does not carry an IP rating, so it should be mounted inside a weatherproof enclosure rather than exposed directly to rain.
What is the difference between the DDR-30L and DDR-30G series?
Both the DDR-30L and DDR-30G deliver 30W and share the same output voltage options (5V, 12V, 15V, 24V). The key difference is input voltage range: the DDR-30L accepts 18-75V DC (4:1 wide input), while the DDR-30G accepts 9-36V DC (4:1 wide input at a lower range). Choose the L series for 48V or 72V bus systems, and the G series for 12V or 24V bus systems.
