HLG-40H-12 is the 12V output model of this series: rated current 3.33A, rated power 39.96W, typical efficiency 86.5%. Type Blank: Io and Vo fixed (IP67).
HLG-40H series is a 40W AC/DC LED driver featuring the dual mode constant voltage and constant current output. HLG-40H operates from 90～305VAC and offers models with different rated voltage ranging between 12V and 54V. Thanks to the high efficiency up to 89.5%, with the fanless design, the entire series is able to operate for -40 ~ +80 case temperature under free air convection. The design of metal housing and IP67 ingress protection level allows this series to fit both indoor and outdoor applications.

Test conditions and notes13
- 1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated current and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
- 2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
- 3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
- 4. Please refer to "DRIVING METHODS OF LED MODULE".
- 5. De-rating may be needed under low input voltages. Please refer to “STATIC CHARACTERISTIC” sections for details.
- 6. Length of set up time is measured at first cold start. Turning ON/OFF the driver may lead to increase of the set up time.
- 7. The driver is considered as a component that will be operated in combination with final equipment. Since EMC performance will be affected by the complete installation, the final equipment manufacturers must re-qualify EMC Directive on the complete installation again. - 8. To fulfill requirements of the latest ErP regulation for lighting fixtures, this LED driver can only be used behind a switch without permanently connected to the mains.

Can I use the HLG-40H-12 to power 12V LED strip lighting under a deck or patio?
Yes. The HLG-40H-12 outputs 12V at up to 3.33A (40W) and carries an IP67 waterproof rating, so it can be mounted outdoors under decks, patios, or pergolas where it may be exposed to rain, splashing, or humidity.
Is the HLG-40H-12 a good fit for a small 12V LED accent lighting project?
Yes. At 40W it is well sized for compact accent lighting runs such as display case lighting, cove lights, or under-cabinet strips operating at 12V. Its compact dimensions of 171 x 61.5 x 36.8 mm also make it easy to conceal in tight spaces.
Can the HLG-40H-12 power 12V LED modules in a small outdoor sign?
Yes. It delivers up to 40W at 12V, which is enough for a small channel-letter or lightbox sign using 12V LED modules. The IP67 waterproof rating ensures reliable operation even when the driver is exposed to rain or mounted inside a non-sealed sign cabinet.
How many meters of 12V LED strip can the HLG-40H-12 support?
Divide 40W by the strip's rated power per meter. For example, a 12V strip consuming 5W/m would allow up to 8 meters (40W / 5W per meter = 8m). Check your strip's rated power per meter and keep total load at or below 40W.
Can the HLG-40H-12 be mounted outdoors in direct rain?
Yes. The IP67 waterproof rating means the unit is protected against temporary submersion up to 1 meter of water. It can be mounted in direct rain, near sprinklers, or in other wet locations without additional weatherproofing.
What are the differences between the HLG-40H-12, 12A, 12AB, and 12B models?
All four share the same 40W / 12V / 3.33A core specs with a CC range of 7.2-12V. The base HLG-40H-12 has fixed output and is IP67 waterproof. The -12A adds output voltage/current adjustment via built-in potentiometer (IP65). The -12AB adds both adjustment and 1-10V/PWM dimming input (IP65). The -12B provides dimming input only and retains IP67.
