HLG-80H-12A is the 12V output model of this series: rated current 5A, rated power 60W, typical efficiency 88%. Type A: Io and Vo adjustable through built-in potentiometer (IP65).

HLG-80H series is a 80W AC/DC LED driver featuring the dual mode constant voltage and constant current output. HLG-80H operates from 90～305VAC and offers models with different rated voltage ranging between 12V and 54V. Thanks to the high efficiency up to 91%, with the fanless design, the entire series is able to operate for -40℃ ~ +80℃ case temperature under free air convection. The design of metal housing and IP65 ingress protection level allows this series to fit both indoor and outdoor applications. HLG-80H is equipped with various function options, such as dimming methodologies, so as to provide the optimal design flexibility for LED lighting system.

Test conditions and notes14

1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated current and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.

5. De-rating may be needed under low input voltages. Please refer to “STATIC CHARACTERISTIC” sections for details.
6. Length of set up time is measured at first cold start. Turning ON/OFF the driver may lead to increase of the set up time.
7. The driver is considered as a component that will be operated in combination with final equipment. Since EMC performance will be affected by the complete installation, the final equipment manufacturers must re-qualify EMC Directive on the complete installation again. 8. To fulfill requirements of the latest ErP regulation for lighting fixtures, this LED driver can only be used behind a switch without permanently connected to the mains.

Can I use the HLG-80H-12A to power 12V LED strip lights in a sheltered outdoor area?

Yes. The HLG-80H-12A delivers 60W at 12V and has an IP65-rated metal housing designed for indoor and outdoor applications. It is suitable for covered patios, soffits, or carports. For fully exposed rain locations, the IP67-rated HLG-80H-12 or HLG-80H-12B would be better choices.

Is the adjustable output on the HLG-80H-12A useful for matching different 12V LED loads?

Yes. The built-in potentiometers let you trim the output voltage (10.8-13.5V) and current (3-5A), which is helpful when your 12V LED strip or module needs slightly less than the full rated voltage or current. In constant-current mode the driver works across a 7.2-12V output range.

Can the HLG-80H-12A drive 12V LED modules in a retail display or light box?

Yes. At 60W and 12V, the HLG-80H-12A can power 12V LED modules commonly used in retail light boxes, menu boards, and display cases. The adjustable output lets you fine-tune brightness to match the display requirements, and the universal 90-305VAC input handles diverse commercial power supplies.

How many meters of 12V LED strip can the HLG-80H-12A handle?

Divide 60W by your strip's power per meter. For a strip rated at 8W/m, you could run up to 7.5 meters (60W / 8W per meter = 7.5m). A denser strip at 14.4W/m would allow about 4.1 meters. Always check your strip's rated power per meter and keep total load at or below 60W.

Is the HLG-80H-12A suitable for a damp garage or basement workshop?

Yes. Its IP65-rated metal housing and 20-95% RH non-condensing working humidity rating suit damp indoor spaces like garages, basements, or utility rooms. For wet locations with standing water or direct rain exposure, an IP67-rated variant like the HLG-80H-12 is preferable.
