  1. 1. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
  2. 2. Direct connecting to LEDs is suggested, but is not suitable for using additional drivers.
  3. 3. To fulfill requirements of the latest ErP regulation for lighting fixtures, this LED power supply can only be used behind a switch without permanently connected to the mains.
  4. 4. The ambient temperature derating of 3.5℃/1000m with fanless models and of 5℃/1000m with fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m(6500ft).

Can I use the PCD-40-500B for a constant current LED downlight with a higher forward-voltage load?

Yes, if the downlight requires 500mA constant current and its total LED forward voltage is within the 45-80V constant current range. That makes it better aligned with higher-voltage constant current loads than the lower-voltage 40W models. It is not intended for constant voltage fixtures.

Is the PCD-40-500B suitable for signage LED modules that need 500mA constant current?

It can be suitable for signage LED module assemblies when the complete load is rated for 500mA constant current and falls within 45V to 80V. This matters because many signage products use constant voltage supplies instead, and this driver is not that type. Its rated output power is 40W.
