Test conditions and notes5
- 1. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
- 2. Direct connecting to LEDs is suggested, but is not suitable for using additional drivers.
- 3. To fulfill requirements of the latest ErP regulation for lighting fixtures, this LED power supply can only be used behind a switch without permanently connected to the mains.
- 4. The ambient temperature derating of 3.5℃/1000m with fanless models and of 5℃/1000m with fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m(6500ft).
- 5. For any application note and IP water proof function installation caution, please refer our user manual before using. https://www.meanwell.com/Upload/PDF/LED_EN.pdf

FAQ
Can I use the PCD-40-700B for 700mA LED downlights?
Yes, this driver is designed for constant current LED loads at 700mA. It is a match for LED downlights that need a constant current source and operate within the 34-57V constant current output range, up to 39.9W. It is not for constant voltage fixtures.
Is the PCD-40-700B suitable for LED signage modules?
It can be used for signage modules only if the module assembly is specified for constant current operation at 700mA. The connected load also needs to stay within the 34-57V constant current range and within the 39.9W output rating. Constant voltage signage products are not compatible with this type of driver.
Can this driver run a small LED array for architectural or display lighting?
Yes, it can power a small LED array when the array is built for constant current operation at 700mA. The total forward voltage of the array must fall within 34-57V, and the total load must remain within the 39.9W rating. The exact number of LEDs depends on the forward voltage of each LED.
How do I know if my LED load is compatible with the PCD-40-700B?
Check that the LED load requires a constant current driver rated at 700mA, not a constant voltage power supply. The total LED forward voltage must be within the 34-57V constant current range. The number of LEDs that can be driven depends on the forward voltage of each LED.
Is the PCD-40-700B okay for damp or exposed outdoor locations?
This model has an IP42-rated case, so it is better suited to protected indoor environments rather than exposed outdoor or washdown areas. Its operating temperature range is -30°C to +50°C, but the enclosure rating is still limited to IP42. Environmental protection should match the installation location.
