Test conditions and notes5
- 1. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
- 2. Direct connecting to LEDs is suggested, but is not suitable for using additional drivers.
- 3. To fulfill requirements of the latest ErP regulation for lighting fixtures, this LED power supply can only be used behind a switch without permanently connected to the mains.
- 4. The ambient temperature derating of 3.5℃/1000m with fanless models and of 5℃/1000m with fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m(6500ft).
- 5. For any application note and IP water proof function installation caution, please refer our user manual before using. https://www.meanwell.com/Upload/PDF/LED_EN.pdf

FAQ
Can I use the PLD-40-700B for LED downlights that need higher drive current?
Yes, if the downlight is built for 700mA constant current and the LED load falls within the 34-57V CC range. This model provides up to 39.9W, which makes it suitable for moderate-voltage downlight arrays that need more current than 350mA or 500mA versions.
Is the PLD-40-700B suitable for LED signage modules?
It can be used for signage modules or light engines that are specified for 700mA constant current and operate between 34V and 57V. Because it is a constant current driver, it is not the right choice for signage products that expect a constant voltage source.
Will the PLD-40-700B run a small LED array for architectural lighting?
Yes, when the LED array requires 700mA and its combined forward voltage stays within the 34-57V range. The 39.9W rating fits compact arrays in that current and voltage class.
Can this model replace a 700mA driver inside an indoor commercial fixture?
It can if the existing driver is also constant current at 700mA and the fixture's LED load operates within 34-57V. You should also confirm that the 128 x 60 x 31.5 mm dimensions and 39.9W rating align with the original specification.
How should I size LED compatibility for the PLD-40-700B?
Match the driver to a 700mA constant current LED load whose forward voltage stays in the 34-57V CC window. The number of LEDs depends on each LED's forward voltage, so compatibility is determined by current and voltage range rather than a fixed LED quantity.
Is the PLD-40-700B okay for indoor areas with some temperature variation?
Yes, it is rated for -30°C to +50°C (see the derating curve) and is IP42 approved. That makes it suitable for indoor applications with normal environmental variation, but not for fully exposed wet locations.
