Overview

APV-12E-12 is the 12V output model of this series: rated current 1A, rated power 12W, typical efficiency 81%.

APV-12E series is one 12W AC/DC constant voltage mode single output LED power supply. It accepts input 180~264VAC and provides four models with different output voltage, 5V, 12V, 15V,24V, respectively, that the small wattage LED applications employ the most frequently. Exploiting Class II design (without FG pin) and adopting the 94V-0 flame retardant plastic enclosure, APV-12E ideally fits the entry-level LED applications.

  2. 2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
  3. 3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
  4. 4. Derating may be needed under low input voltage. Please check the static characteristics for more details.
  5. 5. The power supply is considered as a component that will be operated in combination with final equipment. What is the input voltage range of the APV-12E-12, and where is it intended for use?

The APV-12E-12 accepts 180–264VAC (or 254–370VDC), making it designed for high-mains regions such as Europe (230V), the UK (240V), and similar markets. It is not suitable for 100–120V systems used in North America or Japan. Listed safety approvals are EAC TP TC 004 and BS EN/EN 62368-1.

How does the APV-12E-12 differ from the standard APV-12-12?

The APV-12E-12 datasheet covers the E version only: 12V, 1A, 12W output in a 77 Γ— 40 Γ— 29 mm housing, with a 180–264VAC (254–370VDC) input for high-mains markets. It lists EAC TP TC 004 and BS EN/EN 62368-1 safety approval. Check the APV-12-12's own datasheet for its input range and certifications.

Can the APV-12E-12 be used for 12V LED strip in European commercial signage?

Not for LED lighting in the EU. The APV-12E-12 outputs 12V at 1A for a maximum of 12W, but its datasheet states it is not intended for LED lighting luminaire applications in the EU, where MEAN WELL recommends the LPF, NPF or XLG series. For other 12V loads, keep the total at or below 12W.

Is the APV-12E-12 suitable for damp or outdoor mounting?

The APV-12E-12 is rated IP42, providing limited protection against solid particles and dripping water only, with a working humidity of 20–90% RH non-condensing. It is not suited to direct outdoor exposure or wet locations; check the installation cautions in MEAN WELL's user manual before mounting.
