APV-12E-15 is the 15V output model of this series: rated current 0.8A, rated power 12W, typical efficiency 81%.

APV-12E series is one 12W AC/DC constant voltage mode single output LED power supply. It accepts input 180~264VAC and provides four models with different output voltage, 5V, 12V, 15V,24V, respectively, that the small wattage LED applications employ the most frequently. Exploiting Class II design (without FG pin) and adopting the 94V-0 flame retardant plastic enclosure, APV-12E ideally fits the entry-level LED applications.

  2. 2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
  3. 3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.

  5. 5. The power supply is considered as a component that will be operated in combination with final equipment. What input voltage does the APV-12E-15 require?

The APV-12E-15 requires 180–264VAC input (or 254–370VDC), making it appropriate for European and other high-mains markets operating at 230–240V. It will not operate correctly on 100–120V mains supplies, so a model with an input range covering those voltages should be selected instead.

How does the APV-12E-15 compare to the APV-12-15?

The APV-12E-15 datasheet covers the E version only: 15V at 0.8A (12W) in a 77 Γ— 40 Γ— 29 mm housing, with a 180–264VAC (254–370VDC) input intended for high-mains installations. It lists EAC TP TC 004 and BS EN/EN 62368-1 safety approval and IP42. Check the APV-12-15's own datasheet for its input range and certifications before choosing between them.

Can the APV-12E-15 supply a 15V LED strip in a European retail display?

Not for LED lighting in the EU. The APV-12E-15 delivers 15V at 0.8A (12W maximum) from 230V mains, but its datasheet states it is not intended for LED lighting luminaire applications in the EU; MEAN WELL recommends the LPF, NPF or XLG series there. For other 15V loads, keep the total connected load within 12W.

Is the APV-12E-15 safe in a location with occasional dripping water?

The APV-12E-15 carries an IP42 rating, which covers protection against solid objects larger than 1 mm and dripping water. It is not suitable for splash, rain or outdoor exposure, and its working humidity is 20–90% RH non-condensing. Check the installation cautions in MEAN WELL's user manual before mounting it where water may drip.
