Overview

APV-16E-15 is the 15V output model of this series: rated current 1A, rated power 15W, typical efficiency 80%.

APV-16E series is one 16W AC/DC constant voltage mode single output LED power supply. It accepts input 180~264VAC and provides four models with different output voltage, 5V, 12V, 15V, 24V, respectively, that the small wattage LED applications employ the most frequently. Exploiting Class II design (without FG pin) and adopting the 94V-0 flame retardant plastic enclosure, APV-16E ideally fits the entry-level LED applications.

Test conditions and notes9

1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated load and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
4. Derating may be needed under low input voltage. Please check the static characteristics for more details.
5. The power supply is considered as a component that will be operated in combination with final equipment. Since EMC performance will be affected by the complete installation, the final equipment manufacturers must re-qualify EMC Directive on the complete installation again. 6. Length of set up time is measured at first cold start. Turning ON/OFF the power supply may lead to increase of the set up time.

What is the APV-16E-15's input range, and what regions is it designed for?

The APV-16E-15 accepts 180–264VAC (or 254–370VDC), covering European (230V) and similar high-mains regions. It does not support 100–120V mains, so it is not suited to 120V North American supplies.

What LED applications can the APV-16E-15 support in Europe?

Its datasheet states the APV-16E-15 is not intended for LED lighting luminaire applications in the EU; MEAN WELL recommends the LPF/NPF/XLG series there. Electrically it outputs 15V at 1A for 15W maximum from 230V mains, so any 15V load must stay at or below 15W.

Is the APV-16E-15 appropriate for partially damp indoor locations?

The APV-16E-15 carries an IP42 rating, covering protection against solid objects larger than 1 mm and dripping water. Its working humidity is 20–90% RH non-condensing, so it suits dry to lightly damp indoor spaces but not splash or outdoor exposure. Wet locations need a unit with a higher IP rating.
